Hi, I'm Scott Williamson

I'm a Product Advisor, helping Founders and Heads of Product scale their amazing companies, products, and organizations through periods of high growth.

Why work with a Product Advisor?

Product leadership is hard. Especially in high growth environments, as evidenced by the fact that the vast majority of product launches are commercial failures. Additionally, the disciplines of Product Management, Product Led Growth, and Pricing are evolving very rapidly. It can be exceptionally challenging for the Founder or Head of Product to “learn on the job” given the high stakes, heavy demands of product leadership, and relatively few people to tap for help who have relevant experience and time available.

Why work with me?

I have experience and skills that make me uniquely qualified to help you. I was the first Product leader at SendGrid, and helped build the team up to over 30 on the journey to an IPO and $3B acquisition by Twilio. I was also Chief Product Officer at GitLab, and helped scale the Product org from 15 to 65, expand to a DevSecOps platform, and take the company public. I've also been responsible for Pricing, Growth, Data Science, Product Marketing, and Product Operations functions. Finally, I have deep experience in multiple go-to-market models, including Enterprise Sales, Open Source, Freemium, and Product Led Growth.

How can I help Founders and Heads of Product?

Value to Heads of Product

40% of my clients are Heads of Product who have been hired at varying levels to run the Product function. Product leaders in high growth environments need to scale and develop themselves at least as fast as the company scales. They value having an advisor to help them rapidly develop their craft to not only perform well in their current role, but set themselves up to get promoted into their next role.

Value to Founders

60% of my clients are founders who own the product. In many cases, they do not have experience or training in product management. Additionally, they often come from technical backgrounds and do not have experience managing the business of a product. They value having an advisor to help map product best practice to their specific company's needs and a thought partner to help dial in the ideal customer profile, product strategy, pricing strategy, and go-to-market strategy.
